This splendid Edwardian Hotel offers all of the above in 'spades'. The customer service is second to none in the area and I have to say I have never been made to feel more welcome by both the Management and the staff. This is my third visit to the hotel and one thing they can boast is continuity of good customer service.
The lunch and dinner menus are varied and the food is of good quality, as well as being reasonably priced. The presentation of the food is outstanding.
The hotel has two very good bars one of which is the only champagne bar in Portsmouth and surrounding areas. The bar menu offers good choices and once again the quality of the food is very good.
The bedrooms are very well appointed and very clean and a large number have fantastic views across the Solent. Best of all they are not expensive.
There are two things that the Queens Hotel has that no other hotel in the city has and that is a large garden and a very large car park (which is free to residents)
Book into this hotel - you will not be disappointed.

Admittedly we stayed out of season and it was very quiet so we got a really good deal in a lovely first floor sea facing room with balcony - which in summer must be worth the extra. The interior parts are worn in places but all clean and tidy and we had a huge room and bathroom with a very comfortable bed. There is character in this hotel which is lacking in some of the more modern ones and we liked it - all the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Jason on the front desk. The breakfast was much as expected and the bar welcoming. A good location on the seafront for exploring all of Portsmouth and a very handy bus stop right outside the hotel. .

From the second we entered this beautiful building we were treated like minor royalty, the friendly smiling staff (hard to find these days) could not do enough to make us feel welcome. the room itself was spacious and immaculate, lots of resturants in the area (we chose to eat out for our evening meal) the breakfast the next morning was hot and plentiful. I reccomend the champange bar to all. All in all a fabulous place to stay.

Stayed overnight after the Great South Run. We were allowed to park from 8 am but couldn't check in until 20 minutes before our time (2 pm). Reception area a bit dark - somewhat "faded elegance", and could do with some new carpets, but staff helpful and friendly. Our room on the 3rd floor had a sea view, was clean and comfortable, probably quite recently decorated. Clean modern bathroom. Evening meal excellent, staff attentive and helpful. Excellent breakfast and again the staff helpful and friendly. Sky Sports available in the bar and lounge if you wanted it. TV reception in the room a bit dodgy. Would definitely stay there again, top location overlooking Southsea Common and the Solent.

Okay, I probably overpaid on this hotel - I could get in at the Portsmouth Hilton for what this cost me, but I saw it from the water as I sailed in, and heard good things about it.
The best thing about the Queens was the Breakfast -- that rocked--be sure and get it. The next best thing was the views, so be sure and get a room facing the ocean.
the room itself was kind of small by modern standards, but well appointed, and the bathroom was very nice.
My biggest reservation in recommending the hotel is the mattresses--we asked the other guests if they thought they were sleeping on a crib mattress as well, and they agreed they were.
But it is a cool old hotel!

We stayed here for a champagne break purchased for us by our children as a gift to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary. We had stayed at the Queens for our honeymoon in 1970 so this was a trip down memory lane for us.
This hotel is a grand old lady and not at all like today's modern plastic hotels. It is full of character and old fashioned elegance with fabulous views over the solent, (you can spend hours just looking out of the window). This hotel is beautiful, individual and stylish, it cannot be compared to modern hotels - if you want plastic cloned standards, try one of the big chains.
Our room (242) was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean, staff were attentive without being intrusive and the food was terrific. We were particularly pleased with the breakfast. It was a buffet, but everything was beautifully cooked and presented - and unusually for hotel breakfasts - it was hot!
Only a few very small and meant constructively, niggles - Our bedroom decor was very 'brown', could do with a few colourful touches. Bedroom doors are fitted with automatic closers (for fire regulations I suppose), this meant they slammed to close! - ok during the day, but annoying at night. The size of the flat screen tv - rather small considering the size of the room. - Yes, we will definitely be going back for another visit.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, very clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent. Good selection of well cooked, none greasy food as well as a continental selection. We will be staying here again.

Travelling for business alone this hotel was ideally placed and right on the seafront with incredible views across the Solent where there is always something going on. My room was spotlessly clean with really good quality linens and towels. Very important to me.Didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but had a great breakfast, the staff were attentive and polite and everything was fresh. Lots of restaurants within walking distance for dinner but none with the view of the Solent from the very smart Champagne bar in the Queens. Luckily I picked the only two days in August when it hasn't rained and I treated myself to two glasses of fizz. There were at least 7 different types to have by the glass. Good value for a clean quiet room with such a stunning view.

On arrival checked out our allocated double room. It was very nice but we wanted more! Decided to upgrade to sea-view. Friendly and welcoming staff on reception. Well, what a fantastic room for an extra £10. Wonderful panoramic sea views with balcony. Room was very grand and large queen size bed. Very clean with all the basics including TV, kettle, large fluffy towels and good bed linen. Only negatives were TV channels - no freeview and toilet did not flush or refill quickly. We will definitely be returning ASAP. PUP!

We have just returned from The Queens Hotel after a two night stay. We couldnt fault it and i'am fussy!! We had a lovely room and yes was warm but we were able to turn off radiator but it was chilly at night so was pleased heating was available. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was fine and service great. Beautiful room overlooking the gardens. I thought it was very good value for money. The lift broke down Saturday so we had to walk up the stairs to the third floor but we are lucky enough to be able to do that with no problem. These things happen and cant be helped. All the staff were most helpful and friendly.

We booked into this hotel for a very special family event! From the onset the staff at the hotel were polite, accomodating and really couldnt do enough for any of us. The room we were given was huge and very grand with amazing views. They also included special offers for family and friends also staying at the hotel. The food at the hotel was great (dinner and breakfast), with lots of choice and the service excellent.
All in all could not fault our stay at this hotel or anything it has to offer.

Larger then expected, very clean. We asked for a room with a view and boy they delivered, overlooking the commons and mouth of the harbour. We really enjoyed our stay.
